From time immemorial, it is the common practices of the people of western Nigeria to bury their deceased relatives, for various reasons that are best known to them, in backyards, rooms, jungles, etc. Many Muslim communities are not left out in these practices probably because of the fear that the existing cemeteries are not adequately taken care of as a result of which corpses may be removed from tombs for rituals or for other purposes. But this contradicts the practices of the Holy Prophet (saw). Consequent upon this, some concerned Muslim brothers realized the need to establish more standard and secure Muslim cemeteries and also to improve standards of the existing ones.
Aims and Objectives
To acquire acres of land for Muslim cemeteries in different communities when the need arises. To create awareness about the importance and the use of Muslim cemeteries. To generate fund for the maintenance of Muslim cemeteries through fair means. To provide adequate security in the existing and new cemeteries. To ensure a proper documentation of the deceased Muslims in all the cemeteries.
